Children's Miracle Network Receives Credit Union Donation
St. Louis, MO (May 10, 2011) –Five credit unions active in the St. Louis Chapter of Credit Unions opened 281 new youth accounts during April and made a combined donation of $2,030 to Children's Miracle Network of Greater St. Louis. As a way to promote youth financial literacy during Credit Union Youth Month, the five credit unions, 1st Financial Federal Credit Union, Alliance Credit Union, Arsenal Credit Union, Electro Savings Credit Union and Vantage Credit committed to donate $5 for each new youth account opened at their credit unions during April. One credit union, Electro Savings also committed to donate $5 for each $50 or more deposit made into existing youth accounts during the month.

Each year during the month of April credit unions across the country, spotlight their efforts to help parents and schools educate young people on the importance of saving and learning how to spend responsibly. "It's nice to have an entire month that benefits youth financial literacy and CMN," said Josh Purler, Marketing Manager for Alliance Credit Union. "Both are important causes to our credit union and staff. Youth Month is something that we look forward to each year."
This is the St. Louis Chapter of Credit Unions' second year combining Credit Union Youth Month with a benefit for CMN. "The Chapter is a not-for-profit organization composed of area credit unions that work together to promote the credit union philosophy of "people helping people" through financial education events, as well as collaborative involvement in charitable causes," explains Lisa Farnen, Vice President of Marketing with Electro Savings Credit Union. "We see combining Credit Union Youth Month with CMN as a perfect fit."
