Press Release December 28th, 2009
1st Financial Federal Credit Union located in St. Charles, Hazelwood, downtown St. Louis, and Wentzville collected new toys, clothing, money, food and household supplies this Christmas for the Wentzville area chapter of St. Louis Crisis Nursery.
1st Financial took sole responsibility of providing Christmas for one area family by “adopting” them and purchasing items from their wish list. With all four branches participating, employees of 1st Financial were able to collect nearly $600 in cash donations as well as several hundred dollars in toys, clothing, bedding and non perishable foods.
Marcia Rodriguez, Community Development Coordinator at 1st Financial recently said, “Given the state of the current economy, we were surprised to see so many people within the organization pull together and donate so much in such a small amount of time, during the holiday season”. She also added “We were able to donate every single item on the family’s wish list, as well as several hundred dollars to help with household costs”. Crisis Nursery has cited a 25 percent increase in calls for help this year as a result of the struggling economy.
