1st Financial Federal Credit Union Partners International Credit Union Day with Fundraiser for Local Charity
1st Financial Federal Credit Union located in St. Charles, Hazelwood, downtown St. Louis, and Wentzville celebrated International Credit Union Day on October 15, 2009 to recognize the cooperative effort of the credit union movement across the globe. Every October, 1st Financial Federal Credit Union customarily celebrates International Credit Union Day with giveaways, themed events and food for members in each of the branches. In addition to these fun events to commemorate the credit union difference, this year 1st Financial created a vacation raffle with all proceeds benefiting the local charity, Share Pregnancy and Infant Loss Support, Inc.
According to Marcia Rodriguez, Community Relations Coordinator at 1st Financial, "Share is an organization that has positively affected several of our employees and members. Community involvement is a core value at 1st Financial and being able to support such an amazing resource to the St. Louis area means a lot to those of us who cherish the work they do to help women suffering from the tragic loss of a child."
For several weeks leading up to International Credit Union Day, members and employees were given the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets in an effort to win a 3 day vacation with the option of a cruise, golfing expedition or sporting event weekend. Through this fundraising effort, 1st Financial was able to raise several hundred dollars for a donation to Share and provide a nice vacation package to a 1st Financial member.
The mission of Share Pregnancy and Infant Loss Support, Inc. is to serve those whose lives are touched by the tragic death of a baby through pregnancy loss, stillbirth or in the first few months of life.
