1st Financial Federal Credit Union Receives Award for Outstanding Community Involvement

September 30, 2011 – Wentzville, MO: 1st Financial Federal Credit Union located in St. Charles, Wentzville, Hazelwood, and Downtown St. Louis was recently honored with the Dora Maxwell Award, which recognizes outstanding achievements in social responsibility and community involvement.

The award was presented by the Missouri Credit Union Association (MCUA) a state trade association comprised of nearly 140 credit unions in Missouri. Awards are given in each of several categories ranging from community events to financial education to credit union philosophy in action.

1st Financial Federal Credit Union won a Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility award for its work on behalf Children’s Miracle Network of Greater St. Louis. The credit union offered members the option skipping a loan payment for a small fee during the months of November and December 2010 and if chosen, members could add $5.00 which was then matched by the Credit Union and CO-OP ATM Network. Nearly 40% of members chose to donate the funds which were matched through the CO-OP ATM matching grant program.

“The Missouri Credit Union Association social responsibility awards recognize the best-of-the-best in community involvement,” said Maria Langston, Executive Director of Children’s Miracle Network of Greater St. Louis. “Our credit union partners help the lives of thousands of children treated at our member hospitals, SSM Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center and St. Louis Children’s Hospital. 1st Financial is truly a champion for children.”

Wentzville, MO –1st Financial Federal Credit Union located in St. Charles, Wentzville, Hazelwood, and Downtown St. Louis was recently honored with two Diamond Awards and two Awards of Merit, which recognize outstanding marketing and business development achievements in the credit union industry.

The awards were presented by the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) Marketing and Business Development Council, a national network comprised of nearly 1,000 credit union marketing and business development professionals. Awards are given in each of 33 categories ranging from advertising to community events and beyond.

1st Financial Federal Credit Union won a Diamond Award for the category of segmented (generational) newsletters and for its spring/summer auto loan promotion, entitled Clunker to Cool. The newsletters focused on educating youth, young adults, and seniors about relevant financial topics to help them make the most of their money, while the auto loan promotion was aimed at consumers who had held on to their vehicle longer than normal.

“The Diamond Awards recognize the best-of-the-best in credit union marketing, advertising, and business development,” said Anne Legg, CUNA Marketing Council chair. “It takes hard work, imagination, and perseverance to be selected as a Diamond Award winner from nearly 1,000 entries.”

1st Financial Federal Credit Union Recognized As Top Donator in Credit Unions For Kids Program

1st Financial Federal Credit Union located in St. Charles, Hazelwood, downtown St. Louis, and Wentzville was recently recognized as the leading donator in 2009 with the Credit Unions for Kids Program benefiting the Children’s Miracle Network (CMN).

1st Financial spent much of 2009 raising money for CMN through Credit Union for Kids by holding special events such as several dress down days, raffles and by partnering with the River City Rascals baseball team in O’Fallon, MO. Through these efforts, 1st Financial was able to raise and donate nearly $13,800 to CMN, making them the lead donating partner in the Credit Unions for Kids program for the 2009 year.
Michelle Rosner, Vice President of Marketing at 1st Financial, recently said “While we are honored to be named the top credit union for funds raised to benefit CMN of St. Louis, the best reward is knowing that we continue the credit union mission of “people helping people” in the St. Louis area.” She also added, “We are fortunate to have two outstanding hospitals for children and we hope that our efforts can help make a difference to the families in our community.”

Credit unions have partnered with Children’s Miracle Network since 1996, when the Credit Unions for Kids program was introduced nationwide. Today, credit unions across the United States collaborate with credit union chapters, leagues, trade organizations, publications, and business partners to raise much-needed funds to benefit 170 Children’s Miracle Network hospitals. Since 1996, the Credit Unions for Kids program has generated more than $75 million for children’s hospitals.


1st Financial Federal Credit Union Awarded 2009 Business of the Year from Wentzville Chamber

1st Financial Federal Credit Union, located in Wentzville, St. Charles, Hazelwood, and downtown St. Louis, was honored by the City of Wentzville Chamber of Commerce with its 2009 Business of the Year Award at their 4th Annual Blizzard Ball on January 23, 2010. Wentzville mayor Paul Lambi presented the award to 1st Financial CEO, Nina Pilger, who while representing the credit union, happily accepted the award on behalf of all 1st Financial employees.

Mayor Lambi noted on the award, this year’s recipient of the Business of the Year award has become an active member of the Chamber quickly since moving into the city of Wentzville by participating in many events, such as the Summer Food Drive and Summer Backpack Campaign. The mayor went on to write “People Helping People, a company philosophy is acted out each day with their long list of community programs that they support. To list a few: St. Louis Crisis Nursery, Habitat for Humanity, Komen St. Louis Race for A Cure, Salvation Army, Family Support Services and many others”.

When discussing the honor, Michelle Rosner, Vice President of Marketing at 1st Financial said, “Credit unions exist to help people. Whether it’s helping someone get a much needed loan or donating back to school supplies to help those in need, we are here to enrich the communities we serve. We have invested a large percentage of our time and resources into working in the St. Charles, St. Louis, and more recently Wentzville communities, not because we are searching for notoriety, but because that is what we exist to do.” She went on to add, “We appreciate so much the Wentzville Chamber of Commerce for not only recognizing our efforts, but also for leading the way in assisting the city of Wentzville to thrive and succeed.”
